Carbon Tax Rebate 2023 – 2024

A carbon tax, or fuel charge, in Canada is a regulatory fee or tax imposed at the Canadian provincial, territorial or federal level on the carbon content of fuel. By 2023, the minimum tax is set at CA$65 per tonne of CO2, rising to CA$170 in 2030. Now the Canadian Revenue Agency, to reduce the tax burden imposed on the citizens of New Brunswick, Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, will soon create Carbon Tax Rebates 2023 – 2024.

If you are a resident of the four provinces mentioned above, you are entitled to receive a carbon tax rebate, distributed in four equal instalments. This is a tax-free amount given to eligible taxpayers to offset the costs of federal pollution pricing. The debate involves a basic amount and an additional amount for residents of small and rural communities.
