SDCC 2024: ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Takes the Stage at Marvel’s Hall H Panel

Sam Wilson flew into San Diego Comic-Con 2024 to unveil a new look at Captain America: Brave New World.

As part of Marvel Studios’ blockbuster Hall H presentation, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige takes the stage with stars Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Giancarlo Esposito and Tim Blake Nelson. After an exclusive look at footage from the film, the cast welcomes Harrison Ford, who makes his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as U.S. President Thaddeus Ross.

Mackie returns as Sam Wilson, officially taking over the role of Captain America. Brave New World sees him clash with the newly elected Ross as he races to uncover the truth behind a nefarious global conspiracy.

“I’m happy and proud to be a member of the Marvel Universe,” Ford told the cheering crowd. “I’ve been watching the brilliant actors — some of whom are here tonight — having a really good time working in the Marvel Universe, and I wanted a piece of the action.”

Mackie also teased the film’s epic action sequences, comparing them to 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier. He added that unlike his predecessor Steve Rogers, Sam lacks super powers, describing him as less of a “muscle guy” and more of a “brainy, thoughtful character.”

For the first time, Esposito also revealed his character in the film. The actor told the crowd that he will play Seth Volker, aka Sidewinder, the leader of the Serpent Society.

Directed by Julius Onah, Captain America: Brave New World will hit theaters on February 14, 2025.
